PADUA, Italy — A community cleanup in the Italian city of Padua brought together people from different faiths and national backgrounds on 4 October 2026.
The initiative brought Scientology Volunteer Ministers together with Muslim and South Asian community members, who removed approximately 50 kilograms of litter and abandoned materials from Borgomagno.
The volunteers concentrated their efforts around the railway overpass, an area affected by recurring waste disposal.
The project reflected a continuing pattern of joint neighbourhood cleanups involving different communities in Padua.
Similar activities were organised in September, including cleanups around Via Rubaltelli and the Stanga neighbourhood.
Beyond the immediate environmental benefits, these activities illustrate how people with different beliefs can cooperate on issues of common concern.
The Volunteer Scientology Ministers programme originated with Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard and has developed into an international initiative supporting practical help and community improvement.
Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, emphasised the connection between cooperation and respect for diversity.
"Respect for different beliefs becomes especially meaningful when it is accompanied by cooperation," Arjona said.
The joint activities provide a practical example of how different communities can contribute to the same local objectives.
The Church of Scientology maintains churches, missions and groups throughout Europe, with members participating in initiatives involving education, drug prevention, human rights and community betterment.
